Position: Lead Video Editor

At Christ Church, every role matters — because every team member matters. When you join our staff, you’re not just taking a job; you’re stepping into a calling where your work directly impacts lives, worship, and our mission of “Uniting People to God and People to People.”

We’re looking for a Lead Video Editor (LVE) — a creative, systems-minded storyteller who can shape powerful content and run a tight production ship. If you love crafting narratives, mentoring editors, and turning complex projects into on-time, high-impact deliverables, this is your chance to help bring distraction-free worship and ministry moments to life every week.

WhyYou’ll Love Working Here

As our Lead Video Editor, you’ll be the creative and operational heartbeat of video at Christ Church—from reels and sermon packages to event recaps and impact stories. You won’t just edit—you’ll lead. Every week you’ll partner with a creative team of freelancers and volunteers, shaping 75–100 inspiring projects each year that reach thousands of people across campuses, events, and digital platforms.

This role isn’t confined to a desk—it’s hands-on, hybrid, and full of energy. As Lead Video Editor, you’ll step into the center of our Church’s story—spending Sundays and special gatherings alongside worship and production teams, capturing powerful moments, editing dynamic content in studio or live, and shaping unforgettable experiences that move and inspire our community. Along the way you’ll make key creative and strategic decisions—managing vendors, recommending the best tools, and stewarding resources—all while ensuring our ministry stays on the cutting edge and our message reaches further than ever before.

Here, your leadership doesn’t just manage projects—it multiplies impact:

  • You’ll contribute to moments that help people encounter Christ every week in a powerful and life-changing way
  • You’ll join a supportive, innovative, faith-filled culture that values your voice and celebrates your growth
  • You’ll get to do meaningful work in a fun, welcoming workplace where collaboration is key

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the creative: Own the edit on major projects (promos, reels, impact stories, sermons), define our storytelling voice, and provide final review before leadership sign-off. You will mentor editors and volunteers to align with quality expectations and brand consistency.
  • Run post-production with excellence: From color and sound design to subtitles and exports, you’ll make sure every project looks and sounds its best. By driving feedback cycles and optimizing for every platform, you’ll ensure our content is not just seen, but truly experienced by people wherever they are.
  • Build the bench: Recruit, train, assign, and review work from freelance editors (3–5) and serving-team volunteers (5–10). Foster a creative, solutions-oriented culture that multiplies capacity. Pouring into others equips a creative community that multiplies impact beyond what one person could do alone.
  • Keep projects moving: Manage calendars, milestones, and deliverables so ideas flow smoothly from concept to final cut—you’ll keep the team moving, free them to dream bigger, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Support weekends & events: Provide video leadership for Sunday services at the Rockaway Campus; capture b-roll, lead teams, and ensure high-impact content for services and key events. You’ll create powerful visuals that elevate worship and make big moments unforgettable.
  • Steward our media assets: Build and enforce naming conventions, folder structures, and archives; tag and store assets, manage backups, and support fast retrieval for future ministry moments. Your system ensures that when the church looks back years from now, the stories of God’s faithfulness are ready to be retold and remembered.
  • Collaborate church-wide: Partner with the Media Director, Worship & Creative, Communications, contractors, and vendors on strategy, publishing timelines, and licensing needs. Your teamwork keeps everyone rowing in the same direction so projects launch smoothly and with excellence.
  • Be part of the fun: Join a collaborative, innovative, and faith-filled team that values your voice, sparks your growth, and celebrates your wins.

Why This Role Matters

Every story you craft, every workflow you streamline, and every volunteer you invest in becomes a catalyst for life-change. Your leadership doesn’t just polish video—it transforms moments into encounters with hope. The way you edit, organize, and equip others helps create distraction-free spaces where people can worship fully, hear God’s Word clearly, and experience Christ personally. Week after week, your creativity and care ripple out to thousands—turning raw footage into powerful testimonies, shaping services that inspire, and empowering teams to serve with confidence and joy. In this role, you’re not just producing content—you’re helping people encounter the life-changing love of Jesus.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a visionary storyteller and steady leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, faith-filled environment. You are equal parts creative and strategic—able to bring a sharp eye for excellence to every frame while also building up the people around you. Deadlines don’t rattle you; they focus you. You know how to coach and inspire a team, guard quality without stifling creativity, and deliver across multiple formats with consistency and impact. With a servant’s heart, clear communication, and calm problem-solving, you help turn challenges into opportunities and keep the mission moving forward.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Digital Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years professional video editing and post-production experience
  • Proven ability to coordinate projects, manage timelines, and lead/coach creatives

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Characteristics

  • Story-shaper: You know how to craft narratives that engage hearts and minds—bringing worship, testimonies, and church events to life through editing that feels purposeful and inspiring.
  • Edit-master: Expert with professional video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, with bonus points for After Effects and Photoshop), you can cut, color, clean audio, and export across formats without missing a beat.
  • Quality-keeper: You hold a sharp eye for detail—ensuring footage looks polished, audio is clear, captions are accurate, and every deliverable meets professional standards.
  • Team-builder: Collaboration fuels you. You thrive working with worship, production, and communications teams, and you can coach volunteers or freelancers with clarity, kindness, and confidence.
  • Resource-steward: Organized and intentional, you manage media assets, vendor relationships, and production schedules in a way that maximizes resources while keeping the ministry moving forward.
  • Mission-driven: You bring creativity and technical skill together with a heart for ministry, producing content that not only looks excellent but also helps people encounter Christ.
  • Media-savvy: Familiar with live production, livestreaming, and multi-cam workflows, and comfortable troubleshooting A/V or editing challenges in real time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tool-smart: Bonus if you know your way around After Effects, ProPresenter, DaVinci Resolve, or livestream platforms—and you’re always excited to learn new tools.
  • Church-ready: Experience in church, nonprofit, or mission-focused creative environments where deadlines are tight, stories matter, and the message is bigger than the medium.
  • Live-pro ready: You bring hands-on experience with live events, multi-cam editing, IMAG deliverables, and can even add value with bilingual edits and subtitles (English/Spanish).
