JOB SUMMARY: The reference librarian manages all functions associated with library

services and is an integral part of the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School

(CRCDS) Academic Affairs team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to

optimizing library resource access for onsite and virtual users and print and electronic

collection development and management. Responsibilities also include working closely

with students and faculty by incorporating effective research practices and impactful

educational technology in order to enhance teaching and learning.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reference Librarian:

Maintain core library functions that meet the needs of the CRCDS community,

including circulation, course reserves, collections management and preservation,

support for library computer and scanner/copier/printer use, acquisitions and

collection development, library instruction, and reference services.

Liaise with the University of Rochester River Campus Libraries to maintain and

further develop physical and electronic collections access, other patron services,

and inter-library services per existing institutional agreements.

Serve as CRCDS community members primary contact for library-related issues,

including patron accounts, circulation, interlibrary loan, remote access, materials

purchase/licensing requests, and research help.

Maintain organization of the physical library space and communicate

maintenance and functional needs to supervisor as necessary.

Manage electronic thesis deposit, archiving, preservation, and access through

local files and the University of Rochester Libraries institutional repository.

Plan and implement co-curricular support for academic research and writing skills

development.

Prepare annual library budget proposal and manage allocated library budget.

Develop, propose, regularly review, and administer approved policies concerning

library operations and services.

Facilitate regular communication to CRCDS community members about library

and writing support services.

Compile required course text lists in a standardized format for students each

term.

Keep abreast of developments in the field of librarianship, including emerging

technologies and their applications, through professional development activities.

Collect and manage data for reporting to appropriate accrediting bodies and

other entities (and IPEDS, ATLA, etc.).

Contributing to Academic Affairs departmental activities and other duties as

assigned.

Minimum Education And Experience

Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS or MLS) or similar degree from

a program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

1-2 years of experience in an academic library or similar setting (seminary or

Divinity School Library Experience Preferred).

Demonstrated background in theology, ministry, religious studies, or related field.
