Job Description Summary
The student Choral Assistant/Librarian will assist in the day to day operations of the choir library and performing arts area.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Must be able to work independently
- Good organizational skills
- Previous experience with clerical/organizational work
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receive and log new music
- Maintain and track any music that is borrowed from area high schools, churches, colleges, etc.
- Prepare a packet for the beginning of the semester (75-100 singers)
- Create a working directory/database on a computer
- Collect and file returned music
- Keep the choir room tidy, chairs and risers in their correct position, loose paper or music in proper place
- Make copies of any handouts, including concert schedule, recital programs, or music that is out of print or public domain
- Help with concert set-up: moving risers, chairs, stands…etc.
- Take attendance at dress rehearsals and performances

You must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester); contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum.
High-school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment. You must also meet the credit hour requirement.
OR
You must be enrolled or continuing your education with a four-year College partner, on the campus of SMC, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the summer semester.
All student employees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for student employment.

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- The physical activity of this position.
- Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.

- Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

- Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.

- Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
- Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
- Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
