Job DetailsJob LocationLawrence, KSSalary Range$45000.00 SalaryDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the marketing efforts of the Kansas Memorial Unions Corporation by creating, managing, and analyzing content across digital platforms. This position requires creativity, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn the unique needs of our organization and its audiences. The individual will contribute to strategic campaigns, oversee key social media accounts, and collaborate with departments across the Union to ensure marketing efforts align with our mission and drive engagement.COMPENSATIONThe annual salary for this position starts at $45,000. The annual salary will be determined based on several factors, including qualifications, experience, education, and years within the job or industry, with a strong emphasis on maintaining internal equity.DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES OF ALL KU MEMORIAL UNION POSITIONSAdhere to University and KU Memorial Union policies and procedures.Support the KU Memorial Unions lines of effort, initiatives, and End State as described by the Executive Director, and work to achieve and uphold the department's mission and core values: community, dignity, empowerment, excellence, innovation, and safety.Follow the 7 Team Principles: competence, creating a cohesive team through mutual trust, creating shared understanding, setting clear leader intent, written/verbal communication, disciplined initiative, and risk management.Demonstrate a positive, solution-oriented attitude in performing job responsibilities and collaborating with colleagues to foster a respectful and productive work environment.Always exhibit professional decorum while representing the KU Memorial Unions and the University, including routine events and meetings that occur outside of the office, around campus, and out in the community.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Support the execution of marketing programs and initiatives to maximize revenue, enhance brand awareness, and contribute to strategic objectives for KU Memorial Unions.Partner with the Director of Marketing and Programs and the Marketing Manager, and other key stakeholders to develop, plan, and implement marketing initiatives, including events, promotions, content development, program support, social media, etc.Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of union-wide marketing initiative and digital engagement reaching the University population and guests of the university.Manage social media accounts (primarily @kuunions, @kudining, and @kubookstore), maintaining consistent content calendar, scheduling posts through Meta, and analyzing engagement.Execute content strategies within established frameworks (e.g., weekly post/email minimums), with authority to determine content priorities based on promotions, sales, and campus initiatives.Update and maintain content on the KU Memorial Unions and departments website to ensure accuracy, ADA accessibility, brand consistency, and alignment with business partners.Develop engaging and effective email campaigns such as newsletters, promotional, and event specific communications with measurable outcomes tied to sales growth and customer retention.Create and edit written materials - including newsletters, website content, media releases, and social posts - while upholding brand voice and accessibility.Provide support, training, and task oversight for student part-time employees.Collaborate with internal teams to research, develop and review content.Track and analyze digital performance, prioritizing the areas creating revenue.Support the use and upkeep of digital tools, including content management systems and project management software.Recommend innovative tools, trends, and best practices to improve marketing effectiveness, engagement and revenue generation.Other duties as assigned by the Marketing Manager or their designee.QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree from a four-year institution OR four years of full-time relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, or related field.Minimum two years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.Basic knowledge of advertising strategies and audience targeting.Ability to interpret and apply marketing data to strategies.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work effectively under multiple, strict deadlines in a fast-paced office environment with the capacity to adapt quickly to major and minor changes in projects and outcomes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Demonstrated ability to utilize good judgement in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures as to exercise discretion in confidential matters is essential.Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively with staff.Ability to work irregular hours including nights and weekends coinciding with events throughout the year.Ability and willingness to travel to various KU campus locations; no travel requirements beyond units on Lawrence and the KU Med campus.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Journalism, Strategic Communications, Marketing, or a related field.Experience working with diverse student groups or community populations.Demonstrated ability to write and produce marketing content for organizations.Familiarity with Google Analytics or other tracking tools.Experience in planning and executing strategic communication plans.Knowledge of platforms such as EMMA HQ, Klayvio, and Facebook Meta.Exposure to paid social media advertising (e.g., Meta platforms).Familiarity with Adobe software suite.WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
