Job Details:
Texas Science & Natural History Museum is looking for a marketing intern to join the team! With guidance and direction from staff, the intern will help promote Texas Science & Natural History Museum's events, programs and exhibits to a variety of audiences including general public as well as UT Austin students, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities include: Collaborate with team members on creative project solutions to market museum events and education services. Projects include but are not limited to posting events to online calendars, writing press releases and conducting targeted press outreach.
Promote Texas Science & Natural History Museum to a variety of audiences including general public as well as UT Austin students, faculty and staff. Projects may include researching potential influencers and advocates and conducting appropriate outreach.
Create and execute engaging concepts for digital media with great attention to quality and detail. Projects may include Instagram reels and other social media content. Maintain museum and university brand continuity and visual appearance in print, digital and multimedia environments.
Conduct monthly reporting and analysis of engagement.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Current undergraduate student (enrolled a minimum of 6 hours) with experience in marketing and/or production of digital media. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and collaborate with a team. Ability to design and produce engaging videos and social media posts with a strong sense of concept development, design, technical and editing skills, and up-to-date knowledge of social trends. Has a strong connection to student life and is involved in organizations around campus. Knowledge of in-phone editing apps for image and video. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of experience in marketing/ social media marketing. Experience in short form video content creation (e.g., Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts). Fluency in social media platforms, Canva and Microsoft Office.
Compensation
$15/hour
Working Conditions
Hybrid working environment. Intern will work remotely with one weekly in-person meeting and occasional event attendance.
