The Opportunity:
The Word Church is seeking a high-level Front of House (FOH) Audio Engineer to join our live production team on a contract basis. This is more than just mixing sound—this is about shaping the experience of thousands each week through excellence, intentionality, and technical mastery.
We're looking for a seasoned live sound professional with a passion for creating high-impact environments in a fast-paced, multi-camera, multi-service worship setting. You must be confident in your craft, collaborative under pressure, and committed to getting it right—every time.
What You’ll Do:
- Mix and manage FOH audio for worship services, special events, and mid-week rehearsals
- Perform thorough soundchecks and troubleshoot issues quickly and calmly
- Collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, broadcast teams, and production staff
- Manage Dante-enabled digital audio networks and ensure clean signal flow across inputs and outputs
- Handle EQ, dynamics, FX, and system tuning based on room acoustics and service type
- Coordinate stage audio and IEM (in-ear monitor) needs in real-time
- Maintain and organize all FOH gear, cabling, racks, and mixing surfaces
- Support stage management as needed to ensure seamless transitions and communication
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of FOH experience in live production environments (church, concert, or touring preferred)
- Proficiency with digital consoles (Yamaha QL/CL, Allen & Heath, Avid, etc.)
- Mastery of Dante and networked audio systems
- Strong understanding of signal processing, gain structure, RF coordination, and stage patching
- Ability to think fast, solve problems, and keep your cool under pressure
- A team-first mindset and the ability to collaborate with both creatives and technical crew
- Willingness to work weekends, early mornings, and occasional evenings
Bonus Points For:
- Experience mixing in churches or faith-based environments
- Familiarity with Waves plugins and playback/recording setups
- Ability to train and mentor junior techs or volunteers
- Certifications in audio engineering or manufacturer-specific training
