Join our Y team Grant Writer needed!

Are you a skilled grant writer passionate about creating lasting change? The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are looking for a dedicated Grant Writer to join our Philanthropy team, securing funding that expands and enhances our mission-driven programs and services.

Interested candidates should submit the following:

  • A cover letter outlining your qualifications, experience, and salary requirement.
  • A detailed resume.
  • Two writing samples of successful grant proposals you have authored.

Schedule: The Grant Writer is a hybrid position. The staff is expected to make in-person visits to the various YMCA branches in the DMV area and work onsite as needed.

What Youll Do as a Grant Writer at the Y:

  • Grant Research: Identify and research potential funding opportunities that align with the Ys mission and community impact goals.
  • Proposal Writing: Develop compelling grant proposals, including narratives, and required documents tailored to each funders priorities.
  • Submission Management: Ensure timely and complete submission of grant applications.
  • Reporting and Stewardship: Prepare and submit grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and fostering strong relationships with funders.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with program staff to gather essential data and program details for proposals and reports.
  • Funding Strategy: Contribute to developing and implementing a comprehensive grant strategy to increase financial support for the Ys initiatives.
  • Tracking and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, funding received, and reporting deadlines.

What You Bring:

We seek a mission-driven professional whose values align with the Ys commitment to community impact.

  • Experienced Grant Writer: Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred, with at least 3 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising and securing at least 7-figure grants.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in securing grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Exceptional Writing Skills: Ability to craft compelling narratives that inspire funding partners.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high-quality work under deadlines.
  • Research Savvy: Proficiency in identifying potential funding sources and understanding their requirements.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues across the association.
  • Mission-Focused: Passion for community service and commitment to the Ys mission of enriching communities.
