The Graphics Tech is responsible for producing high-quality traffic control and construction signage in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. This role is hands-on in sign fabrication, utilizing specialized equipment and materials to meet project, rental, and sales needs. While the primary focus is mass production, there is also potential to expand into more creative design work supporting custom graphics and branding initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble construction and traffic control signs in strict compliance with DOT standards, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Operate large-format printers, plotters, laminators, and cutting machines to produce consistent, high-quality signage.
• Inspect completed signs for accuracy, durability, and overall quality before release.
• Produce signage for rental inventory, sales orders, and active construction projects, often under tight deadlines.
• Create and adjust digital layouts using design software such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or FlexiSign to prepare files for production.
• Maintain organized inventory of vinyl, substrates, inks, and other sign-making materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Collaborate with project managers, rental coordinators, and sales staff to confirm specifications and deliver accurate signage solutions.
• Assist in developing custom creative graphics and specialty signage as business needs expand beyond standard DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in graphic design or printing is a plus.
• 1-3 years of experience in sign production, graphic design, or a related field preferred (willing to train the right candidate).
• Knowledge of DOT signage standards (or ability to learn quickly).
• Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, FlexiSign, or similar).
• Ability to operate sign-making equipment (printers, cutters, laminators) safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail, with an eye for quality and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Perform physical shop duties including lifting and moving sign materials up to 50 lbs, as well as frequent bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods while working with production equipment.
