Position Summary:

AVE WEST PR is looking for a publicist who has experience strategizing, creating, managing, and executing PR plans for multiple clients. In the always changing field of media, this individual understands traditional press goals but loves chasing/experimenting with innovative and fresh ways of connecting with audiences in the digital editorial, social, and print spaces. For this role, organization is key, but being able to think quickly on your feet and react with confidence is just as important. As an independent publicist, collaboration and understanding the nuances of communicating with editors, clients, teammates and the industry as a whole is crucial.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  1. Responsible for the project management of client campaigns including regular distribution of campaign document(s), ideation documents, campaign and/or project wraps and utilizing ClickUp for internal action items and requests to facilitate package deliverables.
  2. Managing clients communication, expectations, and providing them with education and information they need to make informed decisions with consideration for consumer trends, competitors activity and temperature of their industry and media
  3. Utilize agile problem solving skills and hold all stakeholders accountable, internally and externally including weekly or biweekly calls with agendas and written wrap emails with action items.
  4. Juggling multiple clients/projects simultaneously
  5. Strategizing and creating launch timelines/press plans around product launches, announcements, funding round closings, sponsorships, etc.
  6. Targeting appropriate outlets, crafting pitches, scheduling, and attending interviews with press
  7. Pitching, securing and completing local PR wins, national PR wins, niche industry wins, industry + commerce specific wins, thought leadership wins
  8. Pitching and delivering influencer gifting
  9. Securing non-traditional platform coverage with outlets (social, email marketing, subscribers network, etc)
  10. Researching new outlets, contacts and opportunities
  11. Planning, drafting and overseeing distribution of media alerts and press releases
  12. Ideating and creating feature angles and coverage opportunities
  13. Utilizing Meltwater and LinkedIn to generate new media relationships
  14. Coordinating client communication and education
  15. Preparing for and attending planning meetings with clients including meeting coordination, call agendas, post-meeting/call wrap emails as well and being accountable for action item facilitation
  16. Maintaining invite lists and managing guest lists for client events
  17. Covering events, interviews, both in person and virtual
  18. Keeping assets organized and easily accessible
  19. Managing entry-level team members
  20. Client and company award submissions of stand out campaigns
  21. Ideating innovative campaigns based on season/editorial calendar, product launches and exclusive product offerings as well as creating feature angles and working headlines for yourself and the publicists to use.
  22. Copywriting support for press releases, media alerts, boilerplates, bios, tasting notes, site copy, and statements.
  23. Manage the influencer & affiliate category of the business including paid influencers, commerce editors and media through gifting coordination and selection, coverage advocacy, pitching/relationship management and affiliate program inclusions.
  24. Covering client media, content and campaign days in and outside of Nashville.
  25. Contributing to pitch decks and proposal documents
  26. Updating project & departmental Slack Channels/Google Drives/Docs/Sheets
  27. Monitor and stay ahead of industry trends
  28. Be a good teammate. Help other people in your role and in other departments be successful

Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements:

  • 3-6 years experience in PR or Marketing
  • Knowledge of the music industry landscape
  • An understanding of and experience working with public figures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong, appropriate follow-up skills
  • An understanding when to ask for help when something may escalate or with brainstorming ideas
  • Proven track record of securing media coverage for clients (preferred but not required)
  • Relationships with music journalists and media outlets (preferred but not required)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
