THIS POSITION IS SCHEDULED FOR 19 HOURS PER WEEK AND REQUIRES AVAILABILITY TO WORK EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS. Position Function - Under the direction of the Director of Library and/or Designee, performs assigned duties to support the Library Department to ensure proper customer service and efficient and effective clerical support. This position is classified as a trainee level position.

Performs assigned duties to support the Library to ensure proper customer service and efficient and effective clerical support. Duties include, but are not limited to: shelving books; customer service; new account set-up; answering phone calls; returns and check out; and assisting volunteers and other staff members.95%

Requirements/Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesRequired knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required. One year work related experience preferred.Must possess good communication and customer service skills.Must be able to sort and file.Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner, and have the ability to successfully work with all age groups and backgrounds and needs.Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Ability to type and read.Ability to learn the City's integrated Library software program/system.Ability to work in a fast paced work environment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City and other public employees, public officials, contractors, consultants, vendors, and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver license. Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.
