Job StoryThe Engineering Design and Mod Team is seeking a student assistant to help with mechanical design. Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms. Job DutiesThis position will support various diverse program efforts as a mechanical design student assistant. Tasks include detailed modeling of airframe structural and mechanical system details, drawing creation using dimensioning and tolerancing, and modeling parts from existing scans and drawings. This role will utilize extensive design handbooks and recommended practices to efficiently design metallic parts, composite parts, and system components. The mechanical design intern will primarily utilize CATIA and 3DX CAD modeling software. Required EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent Preferred QualificationsWorking towards a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Sophomore or higher preferred.Experience and interest in CAD. CATIA V5, 3DX, or Solidworks preferred.Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Excellent writing and communication skills.Excellent time management and critical thinking skills. Physical RequirementsAbility to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
