Job Description NBC News Digital Video Productions is seeking a creative journalist to produce, script, shoot, and edit news stories for its short-form video team, working Wednesday through Sunday. Responsibilities include creating original social videos for NBC News and our Gen Z news brand Stay Tuned; helping evolve the overall social video presence of these news brands with a focus on vertical video for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and the NBC News app; and identifying key news moments for vertical video. This position is located in New York and represented by the News Guild – NY CWA. Responsibilities Follow major news stories for vertical video treatment Identify opportunities for vertical videos across NBC News platforms Pitch, research, shoot, and edit social videos for various platforms Collaborate with team members to bring stories to life Experiment with new formats native to each social platform Stay updated on news and social media trends Qualifications 1+ years of experience producing and editing social videos Experience shooting on iPhone for social media Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and social editing tools Deep understanding of social media culture, especially TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat Knowledge of social analytics and feedback absorption Willingness to work extended hours as needed Desired Characteristics Strong writing and communication skills Flexibility for breaking news outside regular hours Ability to quickly pivot and prioritize Multitasking skills Experience handling high-end video and photography equipment Additional Requirements Hybrid work model: minimum three days in the office per week This position offers benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and discounts. Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000. Note: External candidates may need to attend an in-person interview.
