Marketing Specialist

The Field Museum is in search of a full-time Marketing Specialist to join our team! The Marketing Specialist will join a passionate team, working to position the Field as a forward-thinking scientific leader. Reporting to the Marketing & Advertising Director, the Marketing Specialist will work closely with members of the Marketing team, including Advertising, Digital, and PR, and across the museum to promote the Field's mission, exhibitions, public programs, partnerships, and scientific work to our core audiences. This is a highly collaborative, fast-paced role that requires strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to wear a lot of hats while balancing multiple priorities. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for creating and editing content written in the brand voice across a variety of internal and external channels in partnership with the Marketing & Advertising Director. Assist in the development of the Museum's email marketing strategy, including content development, list growth, performance measurement, and management of email marketing needs across departments. Assist in the development of the Museum's paid media strategy in partnership with the media agency, identifying effectiveness and impact to direct campaign optimizations. Lead the Field's tourism outreach communications, including updating tourism marketing sites and/or marketing materials with the latest news, as well as outreach-related travel when necessary. Be a Brand Ambassador! With the rest of the Marketing team, help to manage cohesive messaging across the institution and review all communication materials for alignment with brand standards. Work closely with museum communications counterparts in Institutional Advancement and Membership & Visitor Experience to drive attendance and collectively meet the museum's visitation and membership goals. Oversee master timelines for key Marketing projects, including exhibition campaigns, corporate sponsorship support, and other ongoing efforts. Strong project management and multitasking skills are essential. Provide ongoing analysis on key competitive activity and/or museum trends to help inform marketing strategies. Support managing budget activity and monthly tracking/reporting. Provide support to the Field Museum website to create copy and layout for Field Museum website pages related to exhibitions, visitation, and other projects as needed. Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required: Advertising, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or Journalism preferred 3 to 5 years of dedicated marketing and advertising experience Superior writing and verbal communication skills for multiple media channels as well as strong attention to detail. Strong project management and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt and multitask in a fast-paced environment where you'll often need to wear many hats. An understanding of current marketing and advertising landscape trends and tools. Supervision Received: Receives general supervision by Marketing & Advertising Director. Work Hours and Shift: MondayFriday, 8:30am-4:30pm Hybrid Eligibility: Eligible Location: Field Museum 1400 S Dusable Lake Shore Dr Chicago, IL 60605 Union Representation: This position is represented by Field Museum Workers' United, AFSCME Council 31, AFL-CIO.
