Position Overview Job Title: Expeditor Location: 3001 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 Schedule: Variable or Part-Time (must include weekends and holidays) Work Environment: Oceanfront hotel right on the boardwalk Summary: The Food Expeditor is responsible for managing the flow of orders from the kitchen to the dining area. This includes checking food orders for accuracy, quality, and presentation, coordinating with kitchen and serving staff, and ensuring timely delivery of food to guests. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has excellent communication and organizational skills. What You'll Do: Ensure all orders leaving the kitchen meet quality, presentation, and timing standards. Act as the communication bridge between kitchen staff and servers. Check each dish for proper garnishing, temperature, and portion size. Ensure that food modifications or special requests are correctly followed. Keep the pass area clean and organized. Manage the queue of outgoing dishes and prioritize according to order timing. Alert the kitchen to delays or problems with orders. Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to coordinate table service. Assist in packaging takeout or delivery orders, if needed. Customer Service: Provide friendly and attentive service to customers, greeting them warmly and answering any questions about the menu or specials. Anticipate and respond promptly to customers' needs, ensuring a positive dining experience. Handle customer inquiries or requests courteously and professionally. Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety. Handle food items and serving utensils with care to avoid spills or accidents. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the food running area and other work areas.
