Position Overview

Augustana Athletics Communications is seeking Augustana University students with a desire to work in real-world settings while continuing to develop and use already learned skills to tell the story of the Augustana Athletics Department.

The creative students will support the athletics communications' goal of telling the student-athlete story and enable others in the department and external media to do so easily and effectively.

Augustana athletics is looking for creative and collaborative, hard-working, individuals who want to pursue excellence for themselves and Augustana Athletics while learning and innovating as a valuable member of the communications and creative content team.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Create compelling video content for multiple platforms and owned communication channels, from short-form social media & video board content to long-form features for website and broadcast projects
  • Work home events as a member of the live streaming or creative content teams
  • Shoot video at home games, practices and special events to generate content
  • Utilize Adobe creative Suite to create content
  • Maintain a consistent voice that is aligned with Augustana Athletics
  • Work under the direction of the Augustana athletic communications staff
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of a variety of sports
  • Possess basic videography and photography skills
  • A passion to learn in an ever-changing industry
  • Ability to work on-the-go and perform with tight deadlines
  • Ability to learn technical side of live streaming
  • Must exhibit proper conduct when representing the team, NCAA and the university.
Working Conditions
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers and light traffic) and office atmosphere working conditions (i.e. indoor spaces with artificial lighting).
  • Uses various office equipment and technology to complete tasks.
  • Communicates and exchanges information between multiple parties.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Required Qualifications
  • A willing and capable attitude for training with staff.
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) and the Google Suite (Sheets, Calendar, Drive and Gmail).
  • High attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Strong communication skills and professional customer service mentality.
  • Ability to exercise social poise, discretion, and integrity towards students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time effectively.
