The Financial Services Institute (FSI) is the leading advocacy organization for the independent financial services industry. The Marketing & Communications Manager supports FSI’s mission by developing compelling marketing that enhances brand visibility, grows and retains membership, drives event attendance, and elevates member engagement. This is a key position that blends strategy, execution, and collaboration to ensure consistent, high-quality messaging across platforms that aligns with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy, Content Development & Brand Management

  • Plan, develop, and execute marketing campaigns to promote FSI membership, events, member benefits, and advocacy priorities in collaboration with the AVP, Marketing & Communications.
  • Write, edit, and proof a wide range of marketing materials, including email campaigns, newsletters, ads, brochures, web content, reports, and social media posts.
  • Ensure all content aligns with FSI’s tone, style, and branding guidelines.
  • Support the development of promotional videos to enhance campaign messaging and storytelling.
  • Manage content and project calendars to ensure deadlines are met.

Digital Marketing & Social Media

  • Manage FSI’s email marketing system (Higher Logic), including design, audience segmentation, scheduling, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to keep website content up to date and engaging.
  • Maintain and grow FSI’s social media presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and other platforms.
  • Analyze data and engagement metrics to optimize future campaigns.

Event Marketing & Support

  • Create and implement targeted marketing strategies that increase event attendance and deepen member engagement.
  • Coordinate the creation of marketing collateral for conferences and events (signage, handouts, PowerPoints, etc.).
  • Publish content to the conference event app.
  • Assist with management and promotion of webinars, including cross-functional staff and volunteer coordination.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Work closely with internal departments (Advocacy, Membership, Events) to support cross-functional marketing needs.
  • Coordinate exhibit booth logistics and promotional material shipping for member-facing conferences.
  • Oversee relationships with graphic designers, printers, mail houses, and other external vendors.
  • Respond to member inquiries.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-6 years of experience in marketing or communications, preferably in a trade association or financial services setting.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience working with email marketing platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics.
  • A proactive self-starter who brings fresh ideas and drives projects forward.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

FSI is a fully virtual, remote-first organization with the option for employees to work in a hybrid capacity from our Washington, D.C. headquarters, if desired. While most work can be performed remotely, this role requires:

  • 1-2 quarterly in-person meetings at our D.C. office.
  • Flexibility to attend additional meetings or activities in person as needed, with advance notice.
  • Travel within the United States (max 10%) for conferences and events.

This job occasionally requires the ability to lift or move materials up to 30 lbs, such as conference boxes and/or exhibit booth materials.
