EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of full time experience (within the last five (5) years) as an emergency dispatcher or trainer in a law enforcement agency communications center (equivalent to a San Bernardino County Sheriff's Communications Dispatcher or higher), using a computer-aided dispatching system to perform data and voice radio dispatch functions.
Substitution:
Two (2) years of experience as a peace officer (as defined under California Penal Code 830.1 and 830.2) with a governmental law enforcement agency may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Experience as an entry-level or trainee dispatcher is not considered qualifying and MUST be listed separately on the application from time employed as a journey-level dispatcher.
Desired Qualifications Knowledge and experience with the principles of effective supervision, leadership, and training is highly desired. Additionally, experience writing administrative reports and using a variety of modern computer applications as they relate to law enforcement, federal, state, local laws, codes and regulations is also desirable.
