We are currently seeking a Designer for our Chicago studio. The Designer, working under the general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projects
- Create design ideas and produce presentation and construction drawings
- Draft technical drawings
- Oversee all design and drawing for smaller projects
- Review engineering and landscape drawings to ensure compliance with design solutions
- Research and select fixtures and finishes in collaboration with Senior Designer
- Ensure integration of fixtures and finishes into overall design
- Develop preliminary concept plans for larger projects
- Develop and finalize conceptual designs for smaller projects
- Review space plans and address complex issues with Intermediate Designer
- Provide detailed interior and architectural design work
- Develop and deliver design and furniture packages for interior and exterior projects
- Assist in developing packages for larger projects
- Obtain and produce cost estimates
- Manage the design budget for assigned projects
Qualifications:
- Graduation from architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be considered
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning, adaptive reuse, and corporate interiors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aesthetics
- Deep understanding of repositioning and adaptive reuse projects
- Strong presentation skills
- Advanced space planning skills
- Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes
- Proficiency in furniture layout concepts
- Advanced sketching and rendering skills
- Strong architecture detailing skills
- Knowledge of construction documents and procedures
- Understanding of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements
- Familiarity with path of travel requirements
- Knowledge of contract administration
- Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite
- Advanced skills in Revit and Adobe Creative Suite
