Position Summary:
As our Senior PR Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping and promoting the company’s image and reputation. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing PR strategies, creating compelling content about our business and how we serve our guests, working with team leaders and cross-functional departments to promote products and partnerships, and building relationships with journalists in industry and mainstream media to help identify opportunities to promote our people, our products, our stores, and our brand.
Responsibilities will include the ability to:
- Develop and implement PR strategiesthat align with company goals and business objectives. This involves taking the c-store landscape into consideration, as well as understanding current and upcoming initiatives that our leaders and their teams are spearheading.
- Create compelling contentfor external audiences including industry publications, mainstream local and national media, the company website, and current and prospective guests. This involves writing press releases, leadership talking points, though leadership, media pitches, and other communications materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with the mediaincluding journalists, editors, and thought leaders. This involves identifying the right media contacts, proactively reaching out to pitch stories, responding to media inquiries, and securing media opportunities that raise awareness about the company.
- Identify key trends and insights about our businessto develop strategies based on data and industry trends. This involves using creativity and existing resources to develop effective solutions when challenges arise and thinking on your feet to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Partner with key internal stakeholdersto gather insights about our business that can be turned into engaging and unique story ideas, which will help to elevate and promote our products, services, and people.
- Support crisis communications as neededto ensure we are monitoring and responding to issues in a way that protects the company and it repuation.
Additional skills include:
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of public relations and how it can shape public opinion about a company and/or brand.
- Experience in managing public relations for a retail organization, for c-stores a plus.
- Desire to tell stories in new and creative ways, and the ability to seek out journalists that are interested in those stories.
- Strong project management, time management and organizational skills, with the ability to set goals and meet deadlines.
- Highly adaptable and able to work well under pressure, with proven experience working on complex, time-critical projects.
- Able to analyze situations, use creative and critical thinking, and problem solve when issues arise.
- Able to develop strong, mutually beneficial relationships with internal stakeholders and colleagues and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Hard-working, with a positive team-player attitude and a passion for the work you do.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in communications or public relations.
Minimum Experience:
10 to 12 years’ experience in public relations, media relations or corporate communications.

Hours & Conditions:Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm in the office with flexibility for 1 day work from home depending on the needs of the business and on a case-by-case basis.
Physical Requirements:Sedentary role requires sitting up to 8+ hours per day. Ability to maneuver and lift to 10 lbs.
