Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a UX Designer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Herndon, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative aims to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework to better support CA’s services.
As part of the modernization program, the UX Designer will be responsible for a wide range of design activities and artifacts, including user research & discovery, ideation, digital product concept design, and prototype development, following a user-centered and design thinking approach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Apply design thinking and user-centered design approaches to meet requirements from various user types.
- Conduct user research such as requirements elicitation, field observations, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
- Facilitate product vision through concepting, wireframes, visual design, and prototyping for digital products.
- Design adaptive and responsive product concepts & prototypes for web and mobile applications using modern tools like Figma.
- Create digital solutions compliant with Section 508 / Accessibility standards.
- Design solutions following the USWDS design system.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and at least eight (8) years of experience.
- Experience designing adaptive and responsive UX solutions for web and mobile applications.
- Experience designing solutions compliant with 508 / accessibility standards.
- Experience modernizing enterprise web and mobile software systems.
- Experience conducting user research, including elicitation, observations, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
- Background in Agile development, including creating detailed user stories with acceptance criteria.
- Knowledge of Agile tools like Jira, Git, and Jenkins.
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, ProtoPie, Mural, and Axure.
- Experience with Design Systems like USWDS, Apple HIG, Google Material, IBM Carbon.
- Must be able to obtain or have an active Secret (or higher) clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing for Salesforce low-code platform.
- Experience working within an Agile environment.
- Advanced knowledge of USWDS.
- Ability to articulate and support design decisions effectively.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma.

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This range reflects typical salaries based on experience and other factors.
