We are seeking a skilled and experienced technician to join our team as an Engineering Technologist for both AEGIS DDG (Guided Missile Destroyer) and PSC (Polar Security Cutter) programs. This position will be primarily in a lab, with the opportunity to travel to both new and existing ships. The ideal candidate will be a former Navy technician with in-depth knowledge of naval radio communication systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to ensure the optimal performance of radio communication systems on AEGIS DDG and PSC platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and repair radio communication systems, including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and associated equipment
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on RCS equipment to ensure optimal performance
Conduct inspections and tests to identify and diagnose problems with RCS systems
Repair or replace faulty components, such as circuit cards, amplifiers, and antennas
Configure and optimize RCS systems for optimal performance, including frequency management and antenna tuning
Provide technical assistance and training to other personnel on the operation and maintenance of RCS systems
When on travel, collaborate with other shipboard personnel, such as electronics technicians and communications officers, to ensure seamless integration of RCS systems with other shipboard systems
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least 6 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of radio communication systems, preferably in a naval or maritime environment
Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training in electronics or communications technology
Knowledge of radio communication principles, including frequency management, antenna theory, and signal propagation
Familiarity with DDG-class ship systems and equipment, including RCS systems
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, communications, or a related field
Experience with test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators
Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems
Knowledge of networking protocols and architectures
Experience with satellite communication systems
Certification in electronics or communications technology, such as FCC GMDSS or ETA International
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $77809 - $132275
