Salary Range: Based on Experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Communication Lineman (Entry Level) to join our telecommunications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground communication lines, including fiber optic and coaxial cables. This role involves working in various weather conditions and at heights, ensuring reliable communication services for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground communication lines (fiber optic and coaxial cable).

  • Operate bucket trucks, cable plows, trenchers, and other equipment to install or repair lines.

  • Read and interpret work orders, plans, maps, and diagrams.

  • Splice cables, mount terminals, and perform cable testing using appropriate tools and meters.

  • Ensure proper grounding and bonding of systems.

  • Climb poles or use aerial lifts to work on communication lines at heights.

  • Adhere to safety procedures and standards (OSHA, company policies, etc.).

  • Work independently or as part of a crew under the direction of a Foreman or Supervisor.

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment and tools.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain).

  • Strong knowledge of communication line construction and maintenance practices.

  • Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and operate aerial lifts.

  • Familiarity with fiber splicing and coaxial cable handling.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

  • Experience with GIS, GPS, or line locators.

  • Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program.

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions.

  • Working at heights using safety equipment.

  • On-call availability, overtime, and occasional travel may be required.
