JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Library student workers staff the library's Makerspace (IST 1016) and with other library administration tasks as required. This position will require some lifting and ladder climbing on occasion while stocking or inventorying the Makerspace. It will also require some event/workshop planning and implementation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Staff the library's Makerspace during operating hours and assist with afterhours programming as necessary.
- Keep the Makerspace clean, organized, and operational for student use.
- Create, develop, and implement library and Makerspace programs, workshops, and events.
- Lead or assist with Makerspace workshops, events, or fundraisers
- Manage Makerspace materials/equipment check-in/check-out process.
- Assist Makerspace users with questions about supplies and/or equipment.
- Enforce safety procedures and monitor equipment use, including items being taken from the room.
- Inventory and organize Makerspace supplies, including the unboxing and stocking of new supplies and equipment.
- Creating purchase orders for new supplies and equipment for Makerspace.
- Assist with library administration tasks as needed including interlibrary loan processing and managing laptop rental communications.
- Develop library teaching and learning materials as required.
- Assist library patrons with navigating library resources.
- Willingness and patience to teach others how to learn a new skill. Troubleshooting and creative thinking.
- Knowledge of standard office machines and equipment.
- Skill in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Skill in typing/word processing and use of personal computer/software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Customer service skills and ability to work as member of a team important.
- A spirit of creativity and craftiness.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be in good academic standing.
- Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
- This position requires a criminal background check.
- This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule for this position will be discussed with the hiring manager, depending upon the student's class schedule.
EXPECTED STARTING SALARY : $13.25 hourly.
