Job Description
Role Summary:
In collaboration with our prominent client in the construction industry, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Grant Writer to identify, research, and apply for public and private grant opportunities that support construction, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects. This role involves collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders to prepare compelling proposals, secure funding, and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Identify Funding Opportunities:
- Conduct thorough research to identify federal, state, local, and private grant opportunities related to construction and infrastructure development.
- Monitor Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and funding alerts from relevant agencies.
- Grant Writing & Proposal Development:
- Write and submit well-researched, persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications tailored to funding agency requirements.
- Ensure proposals align with construction project goals, budgets, and timelines.
Project Coordination & Communication:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and finance teams to gather technical information and develop accurate budgets and narratives.
- Coordinate timelines to meet proposal deadlines and reporting requirements.
Grant Compliance & Reporting:
- Track awarded grants and manage all reporting obligations, including progress reports, budget updates, and final reports.
- Ensure compliance with all funding agency guidelines, including procurement, environmental, and labor standards.
Database & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate records of grant applications, funding status, and communications using grant management software or internal tracking systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing, preferably for construction or capital improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of construction terminology, project planning, and budget development.
- Proven track record of securing construction-related grants from government agencies or private foundations.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively across teams.
- Familiarity with grant databases (e.g., Grants.gov, SAM.gov) and reporting systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with HUD, FEMA, DOT, or other federal construction-related grants.
- Knowledge of environmental and historic preservation compliance (NEPA, SHPO).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and project management tools.
