Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our band and music program for grades 5-12. The ideal candidate will inspire students through innovative teaching methods, foster a love for music, and cultivate a collaborative environment. The Band & Music Director will be responsible for developing a comprehensive music curriculum, directing ensembles, and engaging the school community through performances and events.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for grades 5-12 that aligns with educational standards and promotes musical literacy.
- Direct and conduct various band ensembles, including concert bands, jazz bands, and marching bands, ensuring high-quality performance standards.
- Organize and coordinate music events, including concerts, competitions, and festivals, showcasing student talent and fostering community involvement.
- Provide individual and group instruction to students, accommodating diverse skill levels and learning styles.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music education across the curriculum and support interdisciplinary projects.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help students achieve their musical goals.
- Maintain and manage band equipment, instruments, and resources, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming performances, and program developments.
- Stay current with music education trends, methodologies, and technologies to continually enhance the music program.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student participation and engagement in the music program.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in music education for grades 5-12.
- Proven experience in directing band programs at the middle and high school levels.
- Strong proficiency in instrumental performance and conducting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of diverse musical genres and instructional techniques.
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting student success.
- Experience with music technology and software is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances as needed.
