Location: Hempfield High School Costumer - Musical Hempfield High School 2025-2026 School Year Job Summary : Provide costumes for musical and dance productions in the Performing Arts Center. Creating, organizing, supervising and teaching.

Position Information & Responsibilities: Part-time, no benefits Research needs for specific production, including breaking down scripts, cast breakdowns and assessment of extra members Using cast breakdown (and coordinating with director vision) to examine and research cost effective costume options. Assessing and researching the current costume stock and what would need to be added with rental, building, purchasing, or theatre trade. Coordinating with production staff. This includes meeting with the director to collaborate on the final vision, any and all choreographers to go over all dances to examine any costuming issues that may be a hindrance, set design and makeup collaboration as well Coordinating and obtaining parent volunteers. This includes organizing any gathered volunteer for current production, maintaining contact and relationships with volunteers from previous productions as well as a consistent campaign for new members. Organizing and obtaining cast and costume information. This measuring and sizing the cast as well as deciding how many costumes each student needs and what sizes are needed. Decide which are available from stock, will need to be purchased, rented, or built Purchase costumes. Using online resources if most cost effective or various store shopping. Rent costumes as needed by scheduling appointment times with local rental shops or ordering from online rental programs Building costumes. This involves development of the project and purchasing supplies. Scheduling work times at school to involve students and parent volunteers. This takes in to account coordinating with different cast and crew rehearsals. Emailing, texting, updating through weather etc. Delegating work task. This involves a new organizational breakdown of each work day. Delegation includes assessment of volunteer skill levels. Teach volunteers how to use products, machines, and equipment Organizing and distributing costumes. Hanging, separating, labeling each students. Maintaining and individual space for every student to manage their costumes Alterations, fitting, hemming. Every costume must be tried on the student and checked for fit. Any alterations made. Teaching others to make alterations when possible Prepare dressing room for shows. Attend all productions and assemblies. Providing help and support for the hours before the show, hair and make-up, etc. During the show staying alert and mobile, maintaining constant contact with front of house and backstage, After the cast leaves the dressing rooms, confirm costumes are hanging and spray down Post production collect costumes, inventory each student's costumes noting any missing items. Separate cleaning and send with parent volunteers or take to dry cleaners. Rental items returned When clean clothes return all costumes must be reintegrated to the costume closets Manage the costume closets, reorganize several times a year. Maintain sewing machines, supplies and equipment Qualifications:

Sewing/tailoring/measuring experience Previous experience with costume design for theatrical productions Strong organizational skills Required Documents:
