As a trailblazer in illustrated publishing since 1949, ABRAMS continues to set the standard for beautifully crafted books across art, design, culture, and children’s literature. We’re looking for a Publicist or Senior Publicist (title commensurate with experience) to join our team!

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, media-savvy professional with strong instincts, a passion for storytelling, and a deep understanding of the adult commercial fiction landscape to help amplify our authors and titles. Reporting to the VP of Publicity, the Publicist/Senior Publicist will focus on commercial women’s fiction, romance, and genre-driven novels, as well as literary fiction and narrative nonfiction across our adult imprints. This is a unique opportunity to plan and execute on all aspects of high-profile publicity campaigns while collaborating across departments and building meaningful author, media, and industry relationships.

This position is a union role represented by UAW Local 2110 and is subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

What you’d be doing:

  • Develop and execute strategic, creative publicity campaigns for adult titles, with a focus on commercial women’s fiction, romance, and genre-driven novels.
  • Effectively communicate the campaign strategy to internal and external partners.
  • Pitch and secure national and regional media across print, broadcast, radio, podcast, and digital platforms. Work to reach new audiences and respond to trends and news of the day.
  • Identify, engage, and collaborate with influencers and earned social media partners to amplify publicity campaigns and expand audience reach.
  • Organize and execute author tours and activations with bookstores, libraries, organizations, cultural institutions, and influencers; provide on-site event support as needed.
  • Interpret consumer trends, insights, and sales data to identify publicity opportunities for titles.
  • Present campaigns and title highlights at internal meetings and sales conferences; participate in author meetings and publicity strategy calls.
  • Collaborate with marketing, editorial, and sales colleagues to maximize campaign visibility and impact.
  • Maintain and extend professional media relationships and identify new opportunities in the ever-changing media landscape.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in adult book publicity, preferably with experience across commercial women’s fiction.
  • Demonstrated success in securing national media coverage and executing high-level publicity campaigns.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Existing media and industry contacts, with a strong understanding of the adult book media and social media landscape.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to handle multiple, complex projects independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Netgalley, Edelweiss, and MuckRack or similar media database.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

This position is in New York, NY, and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week. The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 per year. The final offer will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.

What We Offer:

  • Generous paid holidays and Summer Fridays.
  • Company-provided paid holiday break from December 26 through January 1
  • Comprehensive health benefits, including short-term and long-term disability.
  • Retirement savings (401k) and life insurance.
  • Paid time off and professional development opportunities.
