Library Administrative Assistant

This is independent administrative and team leader work creating and fostering an environment that provides high quality, exceptional level of customer service. The employee in this position will ensure that other team members participate in setting the unit, library and system goals and contribute to decision making and evaluation of progress, through training, practice and evaluation. Customer Service Implements standards of service that ensure the prompt and efficient resolution of each inquiry by internal and external customers, delivered with the utmost respect and courtesy. Assists customers regarding library services, resources, equipment and technology and programs for the assigned unit as well as the library system. Communicates library/county use policies and procedures to users. Keeps abreast of developments, new trends, and innovations in libraries; applies knowledge to improve services. Communication/Programming/Outreach May facilitate in the setup of program rooms, materials, and equipment for public, library, and county events. Promotes library resources to community groups through public speaking, programming, and displays. Administration Gathers statistical information as required. Attends cash management training and participates in all aspects of the libraries cash management procedures; including purchases for the Library. Provides administrative support to the Library Manager Staff Development Keeps abreast of developments, new trends, and innovation in libraries. Provides opportunities for continuing professional development of self and others. Opportunities for cross training. Work Hours Schedule will be 40 hours/week, with a schedule made up of the operating hours below: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m., with one evening shift of 11:45 a.m. 8:15 p.m. Wednesday: 9:45 a.m. 6:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday: 8:45 a.m. 5:15 p.m. Every 3rd Saturday rotation: 8:45 a.m. 5:15 p.m. (with 1 weekday shift off) Currently closed on Sundays, although in the future you will be asked to join a rotation of Sundays where you may work one Sunday every 7 to 8 weeks depending upon the pool of employees at either the Selby Public Library or the Jacaranda Library. We realize your time is valuable so please carefully review the required minimum qualifications for the position: A High School Diploma or equivalent education and 2-5 years of clerical and computer experience. Note: One year of college may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred qualifications: Library experience. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years. About Everything Else
