Visit Dana Point is seeking an experienced, creative, and self-driven
Senior Marketing Manager
to lead and execute all aspects of the organization’s
leisure and group marketing programs . As part of a
small and highly collaborative team , this role requires both
strategic thinking and hands-on execution —from managing digital campaigns and media relations to writing content and overseeing agency performance. The ideal candidate has a
strong background in destination marketing or hospitality , is confident managing multiple agency partners, and knows how to tell a story that drives real visitation. You'll support the growth of Dana Point’s brand as a
luxury coastal destination
and work closely with sales and hotel partners to increase overnight stays. Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Campaigns
Develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns targeting
leisure, group, and travel trade audiences . Lead seasonal promotional campaigns that align with Dana Point’s brand identity. Manage marketing calendars and ensure timely execution across all channels. Optimize campaign performance through KPI tracking, data analysis, and ROI measurement. Oversee media planning and buying across digital, print, out-of-home, paid social, and programmatic platforms. Content, Digital & Social Media
Oversee content development including blogs, newsletters, branded collateral, and photo/video assets. Manage social media strategy and execution, including paid campaigns and influencer collaborations. Ensure content is SEO-optimized and consistent with brand voice across all platforms. Maintain and manage content updates on the Visit Dana Point website. Public Relations & Media Engagement
Manage domestic and international public relations efforts in collaboration with PR agency. Pitch media, coordinate press visits and FAMs, and maintain strong relationships with journalists and influencers. Draft and distribute press releases, and oversee the development of media kits and story pitches. Partnerships & Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborate with TBID hotels and local businesses on cooperative marketing programs. Support group sales initiatives in partnership with the Director of Sales. Represent Visit Dana Point at community and tourism-related events. Coordinate performance reporting and deliverables with external marketing agencies. Required Qualifications
5–7 years of marketing experience, ideally with a
DMO, tourism bureau, hotel group, or hospitality brand . Proven ability to manage integrated campaigns across multiple channels. Strong skills in copywriting, content creation, and brand messaging. Proficiency in digital marketing tactics including SEO/SEM, email marketing, social media, and analytics. Experience managing vendors, budgets, and marketing timelines. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint). Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, tourism, or related field (or equivalent experience). Valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance. Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a luxury travel, coastal destination, or lifestyle brand. Working knowledge of CMS and CRM tools (e.g., WordPress, Simpleview). PR or media relations experience. Understanding of the Southern California tourism landscape. Work Environment
Hybrid role with
minimum 3 days/week in the Dana Point office . Some evening or weekend hours required for activations, media events, or community programs. Occasional local and regional travel may be required. Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
