Position Overview

The Ticket Services Associate is a sales and customer service position – primary duties include fielding customer questions both over the phone and in-person, selling tickets to single ticket buyers, selling subscription packages, booking subscriber tickets, and responding to e-mails and incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.

When performances begin in the fall, Audience Services Associates will also manage window sales and handing out tickets before curtains of Second Stage’s Off-Broadway Theater at Pershing Square Signature Center.

New hires will report directly to the Ticket Services Management Team. Position is paid at $19/hr – for a maximum of 20-25 hrs a week – with possible commissions based on sales.

  • Book subscriber tickets to shows and events, both over the phone and in-person
  • Sell subscription packages to new and/or returning patrons
  • Sell tickets to single-ticket buyers in-person and over the phone
  • Respond to e-mails and incoming calls in a professional manner
  • Handle cash, credit cards, and checks
  • Handle day-to-day responsibilities, such as mailing tickets, sending outgoing calls, and organizing the workspace
  • Quickly troubleshoot and navigate customer service requests promptly, positively, and professionally.
  • Work the Box Office window (while in performance)
  • Perform other duties to support the Box Office / Sales Operations department, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications

  • Ability to address subscribers, single-ticket buyers, Second Stage artists, and various other theatre patrons in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to problem-solve quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of various ticketing software (Tessitura especially) a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Interest in theater, new plays, and engaging with the theater-going public
  • Passion for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives within the artistic community

Time will be spent in an office with quiet to moderate noise level and occasionally in the theatre with often loud and amplified noises. The office environment requires using the computer, phone, and other routine office equipment. Majority of the work will be performed inside at room temperature.

Physical Requirements

Position requires long periods of sitting. While sitting in the office, employee is required to use hands, wrists, and fingers for keyboard and other office equipment.

Hours of Work

Second Stage’s working hours are 10 AM to 6 PM. Hours may also include nights and weekends, as assigned.
