Event Technician, Audio Visual - The Adolphus
Overview
A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawless event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
- Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers; maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment is working; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
- Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with other staff and outside vendors for equipment; increase revenue by utilizing floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.

- 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required for team members that may operate Company vehicles. Additional DOT requirements may be required if applicable.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment
Hotel: Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. They may work in multiple hotel locations. Working times include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore.
Warehouse: Work is performed at event venues as well as in a warehouse environment. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines and may travel. When in the Warehouse, work will be in an environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members may use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components. Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $15.09 - $18.49
The compensation offered for this role is determined based on the qualifications outlined in the job posting for the specified location. Final compensation is based on location, travel, relevant work experience, or particular skills and expertise. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses or incentives.
