Job Description
Primary Responsibility
The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. They are committed to facilitating learning throughout communities. Teaching is the primary role, but faculty are also engaged in scholarly endeavors and service activities.
The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning passionate about extending academic opportunities. Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees, focusing on positive classroom experiences and outcomes. The college emphasizes teaching excellence over research. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences and student support.
Pre-requisites For Position (Qualifications Standards)
Qualified candidates must be credentialed or eligible to teach in the specific program. Ideal qualifications include:
- A minimum of a master’s degree in the relevant field or a Master’s with 18 graduate credits in related fields.
- Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience or equivalent as an adjunct.
- Higher education teaching experience preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Candidates should have knowledge of pedagogy, teaching experience, strong computer skills, organizational abilities, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Bilingual abilities in English/Spanish are preferred.
This position requires residency in Colorado, and applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. It is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications
Responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, developing lesson plans, maintaining student relationships, advising, and participating in college activities. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activities, service, and college committees. Final payment may be withheld until grades are submitted.
Essential Duties
- Teach classes as assigned.
- Prepare lesson plans, course outlines, and syllabi.
- Develop measurable objectives and foster student relationships.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in recruitment and curriculum evaluation.
- Represent the college professionally and participate in professional development.
Supervision and Working Conditions
The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction, may supervise student employees, and requires background checks. It may involve travel, evening, and weekend hours. Physical demands include sitting, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and extensive computer use.
