Reporting to the Digital Production Manager, the Content Team Lead has a strategic and creative role, and is responsible for the direction and quality of all content marketing efforts. You will balance leadership responsibilities with direct contributions to our clients' success, by overseeing but also creating comprehensive content strategies and marketing campaigns. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on creative work, team mentorship, and client relationship management to ensure our content meets and exceeds client expectations.

You will be responsible for managing content specialists, copywriters, and video editors, manage your own portfolio of clients, and lead the development of innovative marketing campaigns. This role requires a strong creative vision and the ability to serve as a resource for specialists, and work closely with designers, account managers, and account strategists.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide consistent feedback to your team to ensure they are meeting and exceeding expectations. Evaluate individual and team performance, offering constructive feedback to improve skills and the quality of their work.
  • Work Allocation Review: Ensure all accounts and projects are on-track and that tasks are prioritized to meet deadlines and client needs. Serve as a liaison with other departments to manage the pipeline and workflow efficiently. Manage external contractors as needed.
  • Team Development: Provide expert guidance on content strategy, best practices, and execution. Provide mentorship to improve work output, cultivate strategic thinking, and ensure all deliverables align with requirements.
  • Quality Control: Review content deliverables to ensure they meet our high standards for quality, align with client goals, and are strategically sound.

Client & Account Management

  • Client Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for clients contracting us for social media and email marketing. Act as and/or support Account Managers in meetings and presentations, providing expert insights into content strategy and performance.
  • Goals and Expectation Management: Collaborate directly with clients to understand their business goals and brand needs. Develop and work toward attainable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of content initiatives. Report on successes and develop recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Active Review of Accounts: Proactively address potential issues for accounts with social media and email marketing. Provide recommendations and get involved with accounts that go off-track.
  • Proposal Support: Provide input to the Digital Marketing Manager and Sales teams during the client proposal process, helping to shape content strategies that win new business.

Content Creation & Strategy

  • Strategic Planning: Engage with clients on strategy and performance, and actively create impactful content and campaigns. Support Content Specialists and Account Managers in crafting content strategies. Work closely with the Account Strategist when needed.
  • Hands-On Content Creation: Directly contribute to the creation of high-quality content. This includes creating social media content, writing and editing blog posts, editing web content, and collaborating on video content as needed.
  • Campaign Development: Conceptualize, plan, and execute comprehensive content marketing campaigns for clients across various industries, including organic social media, email marketing, and video content.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Design and SEO teams to ensure content is visually compelling and optimized for organic search, improving rankings and overall effectiveness.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, with at least 2 years in a strategic or leadership role. Experience in agency setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing tactics including SEO, SEM, paid social, email, and content marketing. Ability to take complex concepts and create relevant marketing strategy, campaign, and content.
  • Proven experience in setting strategic marketing objectives based on client business goals and ability to develop and manage integrated content strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and train personnel.
  • Must be experienced in using various AI tools to drive efficiencies and better quality. Learning new AI tools and embracing innovation and change is expected.
  • Understanding of the value of data and insights, and ability to translate into initiatives, with strong presentation and reporting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to present ideas and respond to questions with customers, clients, managers, and colleagues.
  • Agile and flexible with regards to changing priorities and business needs and in working with diverse teams and people. Excellent organizational skill and multitasking ability.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
  • Highly collaborative and able to work with multi-functional teams (sales, marketing, product, creative teams).
