Under the general supervision of the Social Media Strategist, with oversight from the Senior Director of Marketing, and on-campus and Pacific Time Zone oversight from the Dean of the LA campus, the NYFA Social Media Content Creator will take an active role in content creation for NYFA, covering and capturing events, student life, faculty and classes, and other content opportunities for social media and marketing. This includes but is not limited to filming, photographing, directing on-screen talent, being on-screen talent themselves, coordination of acquiring and creating content with others, writing related content (captions, short video scripts, interview or Q&A questions, interview write-ups, blog articles, webpage and email copy, etc.), and suggesting and implementing new content ideas and approaches.

The Social Media Content Creator will collaborate with the Social Media Strategist to create, maintain, and grow NYFA's social media efforts, with a focus on content creation and actively posting to NYFA's social media accounts 3-7 times a week or more, while also working on improving the platforms’ voice and representation on social media and engaging multiple audiences. This role will focus on content creation for the NYFA LA campus, but is expected to collaborate and support content creation, and social media and marketing efforts for all NYFA campuses and locations.

The Social Media Strategist will work full-time within the Marketing Department, 5 days a week in-person at the NYFA Los Angeles Campus to capture content and cover events for social media. There is a possibility of occasional remote days based on campus events and activities, and prior supervisor approval. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to cover events with advanced notice.

Responsibilities

  • Create content for social media platforms, including written, visual, video, and multimedia assets, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and messaging.
  • Support NYFA's presence on various platforms, in collaboration with the Social Media Strategist, posting to all NYFA social media accounts and platforms regularly (3-7 times or more a week), including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Letterboxd, Snapchat, Pinterest, and any additional new and emerging social media platforms as they become available and established.
  • Attend on-campus NYFA events for social coverage and coordinate with staff at other campuses and events as needed, to be posted in a timely manner.
  • Regularly capture campus life and student-related content and post to social media channels to showcase robust student experience.
  • Coordinate with all NYFA campuses and locations (NY, LA, Italy, and any future locations) to obtain and create content, photography, videos, event coverage and other assets and collaborations to post to related NYFA social media accounts.
  • Collaborate on a content calendar and weekly posting schedule with a focus on branding, NYFA student successes, alumni, faculty, and enrollment.
  • Support social media organic campaigns that align with marketing and institutional goals, with a focus on enrollment and the student experience. Collaborate with Advertising team and Social Media Strategist to align organic and paid social media efforts.
  • Create content to support Marketing and Advertising efforts including edited videos, short clips, live video, photos, photo montages or animated photo slide shows as video, animated gifs, and similar types of media.
  • Work with the Social Media Strategist to evaluate and analyze the success of social media based on reports and metrics to identify trends, preferences, and areas for improvement.
  • Curate user-generated content and encourage community participation by showcasing their contributions.
  • Host live sessions, Q&A sessions, or interviews that resonate with the community's interests, providing valuable insights and entertainment.
  • Seek opportunities for innovation in social media and live event formats, incorporating new features, interactive elements, or guest collaborations to keep the community engaged and excited.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry trends and make appropriate suggestions regarding Social Media.
  • Act as social media community moderator to answer general and admissions-related questions regarding New York Film Academy and its various locations and programs.
  • Manage comments with positive responses and helpful information - with tolerance for ambiguity and volatility. Alert supervisor and dept head in a timely manner of any concerning or negative comments or potential PR risks on social media.
  • Follow and suggest updates to established social media community moderator guidelines.
  • Organize online events, challenges, or contests to encourage participation and community bonding.
  • Assist in crafting compelling blog posts or stories, contribute to content creation initiatives, and provide proofreading and review support to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across various communication channels.
  • Collaborate in executing inclusive social media strategies, crafting diverse and representative content, and implementing initiatives that promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, fostering a welcoming and equitable community environment.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional understanding of social media platforms, and best practices for engagement and promotion through each platform.
  • Experience writing, editing, and crafting content in the social media space using company voice and following established guidelines.
  • Positive personality and good interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a pleasant disposition when faced with negative feedback or difficult online conversations.
  • Comfortable creating content through filming, photography, writing, basic graphic design for post art, and being on-screen talent.
  • Organized and professional with the ability to be discreet with sensitive information.

Experience, Education, Certification, Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of social media experience working on a brand.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Marketing, Communications, Filmmaking, Photography, Design, and/or Writing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and their messaging and commenting functionalities including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn, and others as they emerge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Google Suite, Canva, and related software

Environmental / Atmospheric Working Conditions

  • Higher education, office setting.
  • Sit for long/high periods of time to perform various computer/administrative tasks.
  • Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Able to place and remove materials from shelves.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling, and manual dexterity.
  • Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact and telephones.
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull documents/boxes weighing up to 10-20 lbs.
