Works both independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop creative interior space solutions to meet customer needs. Includes a degree of customer engagement, innovative decision making, non-linear decision making and autonomous project ownership. Prepares space plans and 3-D renderings, based on the needs of the client. Creates functional and aesthetic designs that enhance the use of space. Assists in the fabric and finish selection process. Provides reviews on specifications and drawings in collaboration with sales. Provides overall design expertise to sales and project management teams.


Responsibilities



  • Engage with customers in collaboration with sales, to gather project information (surveys, interviews, data collection, observations) and to uncover customer challenges.

  • Drive or lead creative engagements and workshops.

  • Assist Sales in specifying the furniture required by the final furniture layouts and select furniture finishes.

  • Produce and present design concepts to customers.

  • Conduct product research to provide options for sales evaluation.

  • Produce furniture block plans, space plans, finish palettes, furniture specification, presentation drawings, and installation drawings; create, revise, and plot design drawings.

  • Estimate budgetary design hours and manage and monitor project hours.

  • Responsible for individual tasks and duties, as well as overall project results, outcomes, and influence on design approach with team members.

  • Collaboration on additions and changes to the showroom.

  • Collaboration and implementation of hospitality events.

  • Meet, as needed, with industry reps to stay updated on products and services to benefit projects.

  • Attend all company meetings.

  • Attend industry events and peer networking opportunities.

  • Customer-focused; dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.

  • Effectively manages ambiguity. Copes with change – can act without the entire picture.

  • Creatively generates new ideas; can utilize spaces and products in unconventional ways.

  • Formal presentation skills both in large groups and one-on-one.

  • Effectively facilitates conversations and interpersonal engagements, such as workshops.

  • Organizational skills to effectively document project status and history.

  • Effectively manages complex projects with many players and objectives.

  • Plans and accurately scopes out the length and difficulty of tasks and projects; sets objectives and goals.

  • Must be skilled at both storytelling and problem finding/problem discovery.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office; CET Designer, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, and InDesign desirable.

  • Professional knowledge of commercial furniture products and systems furnishings.

  • Ability to apply Interior Design principles.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.


Qualifications



  • 2+ years of Commercial Interior Design Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Interior or Architectural Design

  • Design Accreditation (CIDA) or working towards accreditation.
