Join to apply for the Associate Managing Editor role at Orlando Business Journal.

The Associate Managing Editor (AME) is a critical player in the planning and production of the weekly print and digital products. The AME contributes to the weekly and daily publishing cycles in multiple ways including helping execute the plan of the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) and Managing Editor (ME) and execute online content, print line ups and special publications.

The AME is the first line of defense for the publication providing copy editing, coaching and recruitment assistance, as well as serving as the primary backup for the Managing Editor.

In a multi-platform media operation, it’s critical to reformat, reuse, reshape and guide content for print and digital outlets alike, and the AME serves as a key player in this mandate. Through innovative storytelling, inventive layouts and ambitious concepting, the AME ensures the best reporting efforts of the newsroom are put to their fullest use.

The AME, along with the Managing Editor, is charged with keeping reporters on task tackling the most important stories of the day and week. The AME helps with 1-on-1 mentoring of the reporters and plays a key role in developing growth strategies for the team.

The AME also may serve, at the direction of the EIC, as the editorial department’s liaison with other departments in matters that pertain to awards publications, events, social media and other cross-departmental activities. They also are expected to be available for leadership brainstorming on content, staff strategy and more.

Finally, the AME serves as part of the quality control team for the publication, establishing and executing processes that ensure proofing and editing of all original content for all platforms meet the standards of American City Business Journals.
