About the Role

The New York Times is looking for an editor to help curate and produce the Opinion section of the print newspaper.

This is a hybrid position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Select Opinion pieces to appear in the daily newspaper
  • Manage copy flow for the daily print newspaper
  • Edit Opinion pieces for length and accuracy
  • Collaborate with story editors, copy editors, art directors, photo editors and news assistants to ensure the print report is dynamic, engaging, timely, accurate and sent to press on time.
  • You will report to the print editor in Opinion.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of journalism experience
  • 1+ years of experience editing for print
  • Experience working in a deadline-driven news environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent news judgment
  • Editing skills around trimming for fit
  • Experience shifting priorities and demands based on department needs and the news cycle
  • A spirit of collaboration

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$113,945.85 - $115,000 USD
