Responsibilities

Library Assistant

Casual rate

Under instruction and following appropriate training:

Assist with stock maintenance of books in the library including:

  • discharging returned items
  • shelving books and ensuring book classification sequences are correct
  • repairing damaged items
  • stock taking

Assist Assistant Principal with hosting small events/activities in the college library

Keep the library tidy, organised and welcoming including ensuring computing and printing facilities are maintained

Promote the college library to students and resources it has to offer including creating displays (books and other materials) on topics relevant to the college community

Maintain good working relationships with staff and students

Full training will be given. Student Librarians will be required to participate in required training and attend library staff meetings.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a customer facing role
  • Previous experience of working in a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Reliable with capacity to work 4 hours per week
  • Creative
  • Previous experience of organising events and/or activities
  • Previous experience of working in a library
  • Interest in the personal development of others
