The Senior Media Planner supports the development of effective, innovative, and strategic solutions. This role is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and execution of approved media plans, managing media planners and assistant media planners. The position reports directly to the Media Supervisor.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

Account & Client Management

  • Produces work that delivers on client goals and gains industry recognition for its creativity and results. Constantly seeks and creates creative opportunities in media choice and usage to increase visibility and impact.
  • Oversees day-to-day maintenance of assigned accounts (billing issues, budget revisions, flowchart updating, competitive analyses, post-buy analyses, etc.). Maintains detailed and accurate records. Monitors media agreements and contracts with outside vendors.
  • Leads the development and direction of media strategies and points of view. Conducts media research, brainstorms, evaluates data, and develops strategic insights. Understands various media and their applications against client strategies and goals.
  • Maintains thorough, up-to-date knowledge of the client’s business (market share, business priorities, key competitors, etc.).
  • Communicates effectively with the Media Supervisor, keeping them informed of day-to-day activities and flagging concerns for the media planning team.

Vendor & Media Evaluation

  • Oversees communication with internal (buying teams, specialists) and external resources (publications, websites) to gather and negotiate costs and plan details. Leads the evaluation process for media partners to ensure relevance in achieving client goals.
  • Understands the target customer journey across audience segments for various media vehicles (display, video, mobile, paid social) to determine the most effective channels at each phase (awareness, consideration, purchase, loyalty).
  • Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify target audiences for online advertising.
  • Checks calculations for campaign forecasts, reach, and frequency of media vehicles.
  • Stays updated on key developments and trends in media (e.g., demographic shifts, media usage changes).
  • Maintains effective relationships with media vendors, representing Noble People positively.

Campaign Execution & Maintenance

  • Sets campaign timelines to ensure timely execution, including client approvals, vendor delivery, and creative asset delivery.
  • Responsible for approving insertion orders and placing advertisements.
  • Uses external data sources to analyze campaigns for optimization and planning.
  • Oversees digital campaign trafficking, troubleshooting, and analysis using third-party ad servers.
  • Monitors pacing, delivery, placement, and flight dates; negotiates adjustments as needed.
  • Mentors and delegates tasks to planners and assistants to foster growth and skill development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Media Planner or Senior Planner in a creative media agency.
  • Proven experience managing junior team members.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to craft and deliver strategic media recommendations confidently.
  • Recognized for strategic, creative, and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Proficient in media research tools and capable of understanding their capabilities.
  • Champion of bold, innovative ideas.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Solid command of media math and data integration for strategy.
  • Ability to translate consumer insights into actionable strategies.
  • Skilled negotiator with effective deal-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
