Job Summary / Description

The Senior Producer will help craft and elevate newscasts through rundown reviews, script and graphic approvals, and identifying opportunities for showcasing and high-impact storytelling. This person will be responsible for leading the morning team editorial meeting, working with the team to craft compelling and captivating newscasts, and working with the News Director and Assistant News Director to identify and execute opportunities to shape and grow our on-air and digital news strategy. This person must be a master multi-tasker who is naturally proactive, has the ability to prioritize situations independently, and builds trust within the team. You must be an innovator, who can see the big picture. You are also a stickler for the details and producing error-free work.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • A college degree in journalism or a related field, and at least two or more years of newsroom experience.
  • At least one year in a leadership role or management position is preferred.
  • Title and pay commensurate with experience. There is room to grow with Gray.
  • Must have a desire to win, and the ability to reflect on your work and apply feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), proven news judgment, ethics, and integrity.
  • Must be able to work quickly and multi-task under deadline pressure and breaking news.
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and overnights for breaking news and specialized coverage.
