HOME DELIVERED MEALS COORDINATOR - Denbigh

Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA) is currently seeking an individual to serve as a Home Delivered Meals Coordinator to coordinate the delivery of meals to seniors through the use of volunteers.

Peninsula Agency on Aging has been providing services that have enabled seniors to live independently since 1974. Our mission is to support the independence and quality of life of Peninsula residents, primarily 60 years and over, by advocating, arranging, or providing vital human services.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, orient and instruct volunteer workers.
• Prepare, maintain and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports as requested for home delivered meals.
• Check roster of participants of home delivered meals daily and keep regular contact with participants.
• Provide home delivered meal service to participants by coordinating the daily meal tasks.
• Ensure daily meal counts are tabulated and provided to PAA staff.
• Enforce health, safety, food handling regulations, and DARS/PAA policies.
• Facilitate participants' donations and contributions.
• Maintain client lists, volunteer lists, and HDM routes.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Any combination of education and experience.
• General knowledge of meal service in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Knowledge of nutritional needs of older persons.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to use computers; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Skill in coordinating groups of volunteers to achieve departmental goals.
• Ability to relate well with senior citizens and the general public.
• Reliable transportation and a Virginia valid driver's license are required.
