To continue operating at our high standards, we are seeking a Photographer to join a small, dynamic team at a premier auction house. This role is ideal for a creative individual with strong project and time management skills who can work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines and also produce high-quality images of a wide range of objects and items for sale.
Responsibilities
- Photograph a wide variety of items including fine art, fashion, memorabilia, collectibles, and props.
- Understand and execute the entire imaging workflow from capture through delivery, working closely with re-touchers to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain consistency across varied lots.
- Set up and operate studio lighting, backdrops, and equipment to suit individual lots.
- Archive, organize, and manage digital assets in a streamlined workflow.
- Collaborate with contract photographers and studio admins to streamline workflows and ensure efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of high-volume workflows.
- 3+ years of professional photography experience, preferably in product, e-commerce, or fine art.
- Proficiency in Capture One, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Lightroom.
Lighting & Technical Expertise
- Comprehensive understanding of professional lighting systems with the ability to work across a wide array of tools.
- Strong technical knowledge of studio lighting, grip, and camera systems (Canon preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of strobe systems (Profoto preferred).
- Ability to create, interpret, and replicate lighting diagrams.
- Understanding of studio rigging is a plus.
- Knowledge of on-set power distribution is a plus.
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and build sets as needed.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain visual consistency across large shot lists.
- Strong organizational and file management skills.
- Proficiency using Mac OS.
- Experience with digital asset management systems is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with creative and catalog teams.
- Basic retouching and color correction expertise, with an eye for visual accuracy.
- Passion for art, fashion, film, music, and pop culture is a plus.
