Court Reporter - Miles City - VA VISN-19 | Montana VA Health Care System
Full-time position. This Non-Exempt | Contract Contingent role aligns with the Court Reporter Labor Category and requires candidates to visualize, analyze, and convert data and experiences to meet performance challenges while engaging in productive dialogue targeting mission success. This role provides Court Reporting Services to the Westeran States Network Consortium.
Responsibilities
- Support requirements for Assist program and project management in a functional area with educational and practical experience, and provide Court Reporting Services to the Westeran States Network Consortium.
- Candidates must be competent, efficient, and have the experience, necessary training, and education in Court Reporting with adequate and appropriate equipment to produce accurate, timely, bound and indexed transcribed testimony from witnesses.
- Candidates must be punctual and present at relevant proceedings, demonstrate a professional demeanor, and provide all necessary equipment and materials to perform duties and accomplish deliverables.
- Candidates must be proficient in English to read portions of transcripts during proceedings and clarify inaudible statements if asked. Experience with the Administrative Investigation Board (AIB) process, Equal Opportunity Hearing, Human Resources Management Merit System Protection Board (MSPB) or arbitration hearings is preferred.
- Candidates must be competent to administer oaths. Depositions shall be transcribed by a duly authorized notary. Candidate must have the flexibility to accommodate any turn-around requested by the client. Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria.
- All employees shall conduct themselves in the highest standards of ethical and business conduct and meet milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.
- The Miles City - VA VISN-19 | Court Reporter - Montana VA Health Care System shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years; must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position.
Technical Proficiency & Physical Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Candidates must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
- Physical Requirements: Successful candidate must be able to (with or without accommodation): bend, pull, push, and lift up to 20 pounds, reach, walk, stand and sit for extended periods.
CREDENTIALING & LICENSING
- CREDENTIALING AND PRIVILEGING: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalency. Candidates applying for this position must have at least one year of experience in court reporting and hold the certification as a National Court Reports Association (NCRA) Registered Professional Reporter (RPR), or equivalent (i.e., certified by the state of performance, other appropriate licensure, certification, or proof of education). Appropriate credentials must be provided within one week, upon request of the client.
- Qualifications: Candidates applying for this position must have a high school diploma or equivalency and a minimum of one year of experience in court reporting.
- TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements. Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
- LOCATION: Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Montana VA Health Care System.

- All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a Facility Access Authorization by the USG’s designated Security Office.
