Overview
Project Aide - Ophthalmology & Visual Science role at Upstate Medical University. The Martínez-De Luna Lab in the Center for Vision Research (CVR) (https://www.upstate.edu/cvr) is seeking a Project Aide to assist with mouse colony maintenance under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior lab personnel. The Project Aide will collect tail snips, isolate genomic DNA, and run PCR for genotyping mice generated from breeding crosses. The position also involves preparing laboratory stock solutions and performing other miscellaneous lab duties, such as autoclaving.
Responsibilities
- Assist with mouse colony maintenance under supervision of the Principal Investigator and senior lab personnel.
- Collect tail snips, isolate genomic DNA, and run PCR for genotyping mice generated from breeding crosses.
- Prepare laboratory stock solutions and perform other miscellaneous lab duties, such as autoclaving.
Qualifications
- Previous undergraduate research experience or completion of science laboratory courses at the college level.
- Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eager to learn, receptive to feedback, and strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a research laboratory or having taken science-related courses at the college level.
Work Details
- Work Days: Monday–Friday; Hours will vary between 8:00 am – 6:00 pm depending on experiments.
