Association Overview
Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU) is the national association representing private, postsecondary career schools, representing a diverse mix of nearly 1,300 career colleges in North America. In recent years CECU has grown in size and influence with a growing portfolio of member offerings. An important part of CECU’s work is promoting the work of our member institutions and impact that trade schools are having on developing the next generation of the workforce.
Role
CECU is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Manager to lead and expand the association’s digital presence across platforms, with a special focus on launching and developing our TikTok channel. This position will manage daily social media operations across LinkedIn, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok, and will play a key role in shaping how CECU communicates its mission, engages members, and highlights student success stories.
In addition, this position will assist in developing recommendations and best practices to support CECU member institutions in building their own social media strategies.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Content Development
- Develop and implement CECU’s social media strategy to expand visibility, engagement, and influence.
- Lead the launch and growth of CECU’s TikTok account, creating engaging, trend-driven content aligned with our mission.
- Manage and maintain CECU’s presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Instagram, ensuring consistent voice and branding across platforms.
- Develop creative multimedia content (graphics, short videos, reels, stories, etc.) that highlights member institutions, student success, events, and advocacy priorities.
Community Engagement & Analytics
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and engagement in a timely and professional manner.
- Track, analyze, and report performance metrics; recommend adjustments to optimize reach and engagement.
- Stay current with social media trends, tools, and best practices to continuously innovate CECU’s online presence.
- Develop and grow a list of institutions that are active and engaged on social channels to collaborate with.
Support for Member Institutions
- Research and provide guidance to member schools on effective social media strategies tailored to higher education and workforce development.
- Draft toolkits, recommendations, and sample strategies that members can adapt to strengthen their own digital communications.
- Become familiar with CECU’s members and the policy issues that are important to them.
- Proactively stay in communication with members, potential members, and industry experts via social channels.
Cross-Organizational Collaboration
- Work closely with communications, events, and membership teams to ensure integrated campaigns and consistent messaging.
- Assist with the association’s overall communication strategy with support in website updates and member communications.
- Assist in promoting conferences, webinars, scholarship programs, and other initiatives through engaging digital campaigns.
- Travel to relevant conferences and gatherings within the higher education community to cultivate and create onsite content.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Qualifications/Skills Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 1+ years of professional experience managing organizational social media accounts.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing social media strategies that drive measurable engagement and growth.
- Proficiency in major social platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok) and social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and platforms.
- Ability to analyze metrics and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- A proactive self-starter with a team-first mindset.
- Detail and deadline oriented; ability to work under pressure and with short timelines.
Salary and Benefits
- The role offers professional growth opportunities within the association.
- Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range is $55,000-$65,000 annually.
