VET Environmental Engineering, LLC (VET), implements innovative, cost-effective, and result-driven strategies, on a site-specific basis, to mitigate environmental issues. VET provides due diligence services, investigative services, and remediation/site closure services for commercial and industrial developers, lending institutions, insurance agencies, and government agencies. General duties may include creating reports pertaining to environmental investigations, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II Investigations, lead and asbestos surveys, mold investigations, regulatory compliance, remediation, vapor intrusion investigations, waste characterization, soil removal/disposal, reporting, and cost-tracking. This position offers an exciting opportunity to translate complex environmental data, scientific findings, and regulatory requirements into clear, accessible documentation for diverse audiences including clients, regulatory agencies, and the public. While environmental science expertise is valued, we prioritize exceptional technical writing abilities and the capacity to quickly master new subject matter.

Technical Writer Duties:

  • Create comprehensive technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory compliance documents
  • Develop client-facing proposals, project summaries, and progress reports
  • Write and edit standard operating procedures, field protocols, and safety documentation
  • Monitor electronic file and plan organization and archiving.
  • Research and synthesize complex environmental regulations, scientific literature, and industry best practices
  • Adapt technical content for various audiences, from regulatory agencies to community stakeholders
  • Develop templates and standardized formats to improve efficiency across projects
  • Support business development efforts through proposal writing and marketing materials

Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, and project managers to gather technical information
  • Review and edit documents produced by other VET personnel to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines
  • Maintain document version control and manage publication workflows
  • Ensure all documentation meets industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain the reputation of the organization and represent the VET brand to ensure each work product meets the highest professional standards and follows the established quality procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional technical writing experience, preferably in consulting, engineering, or scientific environments
  • Demonstrated ability to transform complex technical information into clear, concise documentation
  • Proficiency with document management systems, style guides, and collaborative writing tools
  • Ability to travel and work in the field (outdoors).
  • Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.
  • Ability to work in variable conditions, including uneven surfaces and access to remote sites.
  • Strong team player with effective internal and external communication skills.
  • Must have a current driver’s license.

  • Varied hourly pay rates commensurate with experience and job duties.
