CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior CAD Designer I to support the mechanical engineering team in creating models and drawings for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems. You will work with CAD models and drawings derived from CAD data, sketches, notes, and other documentation, and ensure documentation complies with program requirements, processes, and industry standards. Overview

CesiumAstro is a developer and pioneer of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We seek hands-on, collaborative, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of CAD design assignments in support of the mechanical engineering team, including creating models and drawings from CAD data, sketches, and notes, and ensuring documentation meets program requirements and industry standards. Responsibilities

Provide CAD drawing support (SolidWorks Drawings) throughout the product development process. Generate and modify product models, drawings, and documentation. Identify problems or issues in CAD designs and drawings and provide corrective actions. Manage and control mechanical digital data files and drawings. Prepare and incorporate engineering change orders. Input data and manage hardware structures in a Product Data Management tool (SolidWorks PDM). Qualifications

Technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar, or, if no degree, 4 years of additional relevant experience is required. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a CAD Drafter. Proficiency or expert knowledge in using CAD tools. Experience with SolidWorks is preferred. Experience generating and/or modifying product models, drawings, and documentation. Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings, and product specifications. Comfortable with collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Confluence, and Jira. Ability to work well under deadlines. Strong organizational skills. An eye for detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Experience

Strong mechanical proficiency and general understanding of manufacturing (CNC, 3D printing, etc.) and mechanical assembly techniques. Knowledge of applicable government and industry standards including ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.100 (Engineering Drawing Practices), and its application techniques. Previous experience in supporting the design of electronic packages, ground structures, mechanisms, and/or composite structures. Aerospace or automotive electronics design experience.
