Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Who You Are We’re looking for a seasoned leader to launch and lead a new dedicated biotech practice. You are a visionary and a strategist with a deep understanding of the biotech landscape. You know how to hunt for new business and execute marketing and communications programs that drive growth. You thrive on translating complex science into clear narratives that spark engagement across clinical, investor, and media audiences. You’re an entrepreneur, a natural mentor, a persuasive communicator, and a passionate advocate for innovation in healthcare. You lead with insight, empathy, and energy—and you're excited to build something new at a mission-driven agency.

Primary Responsibilities

Launch and lead a new business unit focused on the biotechnology vertical

Drive new business growth and build a team to support marketing and communications services to these new clients

Onboard 6–8 new biotech clients in the first year through organic growth and business development

Collaborate across marketing, PR, content, and digital teams to deliver integrated, high-impact campaigns

Act as lead strategist across high-profile accounts, supporting clinical trial milestones, regulatory news, data releases, and funding events

Build and mentor a high-performing team of biotech-focused communicators

Represent KNB in the biotech ecosystem through speaking engagements, thought leadership, and relationship building

Translate scientific complexity into compelling messaging for media, investors, providers, and patients

Develop scopes of work and pitch-winning proposals that align with client goals

Qualifications

Minimum 15 years of experience in biopharma or biotech communications

Background in PR or medical affairs agency leadership, biotech corporate comms, or pharma strategy

Master’s degree preferred (MPH, MS in biology, MA in communication or related field); PhD a plus

Demonstrated business development capabilities (grew or managed $5M+ portfolios)

Proven success leading major launches and campaigns across key therapeutic areas (oncology, rare disease, CNS, immunotherapy)

Deep knowledge of clinical trial communications, regulatory milestones, and investor-facing messaging

Strong media relationships and ability to generate earned coverage from biotech trade and mainstream health press

Experience recruiting, mentoring, and leading teams

Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable working directly with C-suite stakeholders

Demonstrated integration of PR, medical education, and multichannel marketing approaches

Location This position is 100% Remote. You can work from anywhere in the U.S., though preference is given to candidates in biotech hubs (Boston, RTP) or major media markets (New York, Chicago).
