The Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management (Owen) is seeking a bold, innovative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as its inaugural Chief Marketing Officer.

This is a pivotal period in the school’s history, aligned with Vanderbilt’s growth strategy to expand its business education and computing programs to West Palm Beach and establish a presence in New York City with a campus in Chelsea. Since Dean Thomas Steenburgh’s arrival in 2023, Owen has updated its mission, integrated the undergraduate business degree into Owen, enhanced programs, increased enrollment, and invested in a state-of-the-art facility featuring redesigned classrooms, gathering spaces, and a multi-purpose area to promote collaboration and academic excellence. The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will develop and implement an innovative marketing, communications, and branding strategy that advances Owen’s mission, elevates its visibility and reputation, and enhances engagement with stakeholders. As a senior leadership team member, the CMO will provide strategic counsel, ensure messaging consistency, and foster collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate is a visionary, strategic, and creative leader with a sense of urgency and ambition to elevate Owen’s market position. They should be willing to take risks, manage change effectively, and leverage staff strengths. Strong communication, collaboration, a growth mindset, results orientation, and the ability to energize Owen’s strategic vision are essential for success. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Owen benefits from Nashville’s vibrant, diverse economy and cultural scene, making it an attractive destination for students and professionals. Owen enrolls over 650 students across various programs, including MBA, Executive MBA, Global MBA for Executives, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Accountancy, Master of Marketing, and Master of Management in Health Care. The school also oversees the Hoogland Undergraduate Business Program, a business minor that complements liberal arts education. The student body is diverse, representing over 40 countries.
