JOB TITLE: Urban Designer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Urban Designer will play a key role in the planning and design of projects, working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive planning solutions. KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES : Project Planning and Design:
Collaborate with project teams to develop planning concepts, strategies, and design solutions that meet client requirements and project objectives. Conduct research and analysis on land use patterns, zoning regulations, transportation systems, and environmental factors to inform planning decisions. Prepare planning documents, including site plans, master plans, zoning studies, and development guidelines, in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Generate and communicate big ideas through compelling narrative and visual storytelling-able to conceptualize, articulate, and present bold planning and design concepts through graphics, diagrams, and presentations. Utilize technical skills including 3D massing tools, hand sketching, and knowledge of building typologies and street design to create engaging and dimensional conceptual drawings and spatial layouts.
Community Engagement:
Facilitate community engagement processes, including public meetings, workshops, and charrettes, to gather input and feedback from stakeholders. Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, local officials, and other stakeholders to ensure inclusive and participatory planning processes. Communicate planning concepts and proposals effectively to diverse audiences through presentations, reports, and visualizations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Navigate regulatory frameworks and zoning codes to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Coordinate with regulatory agencies and review boards to address planning-related issues and obtain necessary approvals.
Project Management:
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors, to achieve project goals and objectives. Monitor project progress, track milestones, and report on project status to project teams and clients.
Sustainability and Resilience:
Integrate principles of sustainability and resilience into planning and design solutions to promote environmental stewardship and climate adaptation. Identify opportunities for green infrastructure, sustainable transportation, and low-impact development to enhance community livability and environmental quality. Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and innovative technologies in the field of planning and urban design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field. minimum 5 years of experience in urban planning, community development, or related field, preferably in a consulting or architectural firm. Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, land use regulations, and zoning codes. Proficiency in GIS software, CAD and 3D software (SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino), Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with AI integration tools. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects concurrently. Portfolio required SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
